Research Goal

Our research focuses on cyber-physical systems framework for risk modeling and mitigation of cyber attacks on the power grid that accounts for dynamics of the physical system, as well as the operational aspects of the cyber-based control network. The core of our modeling lies in the integration of cyber modeling with physical system modeling/simulation capabilities to quantify the potential consequences of a cyber attack -- in terms of performance loss, stability violations, or economic impacts -- and capturing the synergy between cyber-physical mitigations. Our research is validated through an unique cyber-physical systems security testbed, called PowerCyber, which is composed of industry grade hardware, software, automation systems, and attack generation platform.
